This site is owned and operated by NIRI-Twin Cities. Your privacy on the Internet is important to us, and we want your experience on our site to be both satisfying and safe. This policy explains what types of information we gather about site visitors and how we use it.
Information We Collect
NIRI-Twin Cities gathers two types of information about users:
- Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions – for example, by contacting us.
- Aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our site. This information allows us to better tailor our content to readers’ needs. NIRI-Twin Cities does not use or share personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described here without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

While this information may be shared with NIRI members, it never shared with any third party.
Membership Application
To join NIRI-Twin Cities, visitors to our site may use an online membership application that resides on the NIRI national website at www.niri.org. The application requires users to supply name, email address, work and/or home information. This information is shared with NIRI-Twin Cities once the membership application is approved by NIRI national.
Online Surveys
NIRI-Twin Cities occasionally conducts user surveys on important investor relations issues, such as annual report practices. Survey results may be announced in our electronic newsletter or posted elsewhere on our website. Survey results are aggregated and therefore not identifiable to any particular user. Write-in opinions occasionally may be quoted but also are not identifiable to any particular user. We never share information about specific respondents with any third party.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SITE USAGE INFORMATION
NIRI-Twin Cities gathers data to help enhance users’ experience on our site. Our immediate goal is to improve site content based on user interests. In the future, we may use this information to provide interactive, personalized and/or other site elements. Currently, we do not share site usage information with sponsors or partners, referring them instead to the aggregated demographic information about our chapter’s members that is posted on our website.
We use aggregated site usage (tracking) information to determine which areas of our site that users like and don’t like based on traffic to each page. We do not correlate this information with data about individual users, such as what the user reads on a given page. However, you should be aware that NIRI-Twin Cities has the capability to break down overall usage statistics according to a user’s domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user’s browser).
NIRI-Twin Cities sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms that users enter in our search function, but we don’t track which terms a particular user enters. Our goal in gathering aggregated search information is to measure what interests site users as a group.
We may place a text file called a “cookie” in your computer’s browser files, in order to identify user traffic patterns as described above. The cookie itself does not contain personal information, although it allows us to relate your site usage to information that you have specifically and knowingly provided. The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can’t read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you’ve set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use most sections of this site. However, you will need cookies to login to the members-only section.
We will not disclose information about any individual user except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.
Security
Only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our members.
Children
Consistent with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.
