On September 18, 2018, NIRI Twin Cities hosted a panel discussion, “Value Creation Beyond the Income Statement: What to Consider with ESG Reporting.” Featured speakers included: Brad Pogalz, Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, Donaldson Company; David S. Post, CFA, Director of Research, SASB; Amy Seidel, Partner, Faegre Baker Daniels LLP; and Jessica L. Mann, CFA, Head of ESG, Wells Fargo Asset Management.
The discussion addressed how investor focus is expanding beyond “what” value was created to “how” value was created and how this change fuels measurement and reporting trends of environmental, social and governance (ESG) metrics. During the program, the panel covered what is driving the change to show “how” value is created; how SASB standards is addressing the trend by showing value creation; how companies can transition to this type of reporting; and the risks associated with this type of incremental disclosure and how to address them.
