Eligibility
Our only requirement for membership is that the applicant is practicing investor relations in some capacity at the time of application. Others may subscribe to our newsletter (it includes a monthly job bank) or to our quarterly professional journal.
Please complete our application, which asks for a profile of your professional background and educational needs. We use the data to fine-tune our services, not to screen applicants. We have three categories of membership:
Regular membership, for corporate professionals (e.g., public companies) and for consultant professionals (e.g., investor relations agencies), and associate membership for individuals who work in investor relations service, or vendor firms, such as annual report production firms, securities law firms, and other firms which support the corporate and consultant IR practitioner. About three-fourths of NIRI's members are executives of public companies, about 15% are consultants, and the remainder are vendors, or associate members.
NIRI offers 3 membership categories: Regular, Associate and Academic. Annual dues are $425 for Regular and Associate Members, and $75 for Academic Members, with a $50 application fee for all new members. Please review the following definitions to determine the membership type for which you qualify. You may then request an information package and application online.
Regular Membership Requirement
To qualify as a Regular member of NIRI an individual must be actively engaged in investor relations with a corporation or a counseling firm on a full time basis or as an additional responsibility.
$425
Associate Member Requirement
To qualify as an Associate member of NIRI an individual must be working with regular members by providing support services to the corporate investor relations function. Associate members receive all publications and enjoy the privileges of regular members, except they may not serve on or vote for the Board of Directors.

Academic Member Requirement
To qualify as an Academic member an individual must be a member of the academic community who are engaged in teaching or research areas which encompass investor relations. Academic members receive the same services and benefits as associate members. Additionally, registration fees for NIRIs conferences and seminars are minimal.
